Iraq condemns civilian killings in Sudan

2/11/2025 5:55
The Iraqi Foreign Ministry on Saturday strongly condemned the recent attacks and killings of civilians in El Fasher, capital of Sudan's North Darfur State.

In a statement, the ministry rejected any attempts to destabilize Sudan or infringe upon its sovereignty, and warned against any form of geographical or political division of the country.

It voiced full support for "adopting the path of dialogue as a means to solve problems, renounce violence, and resort to the peaceful track."

Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) said Sunday it had captured the headquarters of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in the besieged city of El Fasher -- a major turning point in the country's two-and-a-half-year civil war that has intensified fears of a worsening humanitarian crisis.

Sudanese officials said Wednesday that more than 2,000 civilians have been killed by RSF forces since they seized control of the city.
