3 killed, 5 wounded in school shooting in central Philippines

Three people were killed and five others were wounded in a school shooting in Tacloban City in the central Philippines on Monday morning, police said.



Police said the shooting occurred at around 9 a.m. local time while classes were ongoing at the school. Video footage posted on social media showed several gunshots ringing out inside a classroom as students and teachers ducked for safety and sought cover.



Emergency responders rushed the injured victims to nearby hospitals.



Police said one suspect was taken into custody at the scene shortly after the shooting.



Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive for the attack. Police said an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
