Power supply network inaugurated in Afghanistan's Paktia province

Afghan authorities have inaugurated a power supply network valued at 41 million afghani (over 631,000 U.S. dollars) in eastern Paktia province, the provincial government office announced in a statement late Saturday.



The newly commissioned network will deliver reliable electricity to more than 1,000 households, as well as local entrepreneurs and productive enterprises in Gardez, the provincial capital, according to the statement.



Officials underscored that such infrastructure projects are essential for fostering long-term economic stability, advancing social development, and enhancing the quality of life in remote regions of the country.



Afghanistan has long grappled with severe and persistent energy shortages, remaining heavily dependent on electricity imports from neighboring countries, including Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, and Uzbekistan.
