4 militants killed by security forces in counterterrorism operation in Pakistan

Pakistani security forces killed four militants in an intelligence-based operation in the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Monday, security sources told Xinhua.



The operation was carried out in the Dera Ismail Khan district after security forces closely monitored the movement of the militants through intelligence-based surveillance, the sources said.



The slain militants were identified as members of a banned militant organization that has been involved in attacks on civilians and law enforcement agencies.

Security forces recovered a large cache of weapons and ammunition from the militants, according to the sources.



The operation was conducted under Pakistan's ongoing counterterrorism campaign, the sources said, adding that security forces remain committed to eliminating militancy and ensuring lasting peace in the country.



Pakistan has intensified intelligence-based operations against militant groups, particularly in the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and southwestern Balochistan provinces.
