Homicide investigation launched after 2 dead in New Zealand's Buller region

New Zealand police have launched a homicide investigation following the deaths of two people in the Buller region on the South Island.



Emergency services were called to an address on State Highway 7 at Rahu Saddle, West Coast, at about 7:50 a.m. local time after concerns were raised about a person, Detective Inspector Geoff Baber said in a statement.



Police found a person deceased at the property. Further inquiries led officers to another address on Maimai Road in the region, where a second person was also found deceased, Baber said.



Police do not believe there is any risk to the public and are not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident, he added.
