Torrential rain hits parts of Spain, killing one
A major weather change has caused heavy rainfall in large areas of northeastern and eastern Spain, causing one death over the weekend.
Rescuers recovered the body of a woman on Sunday after she was swept away by floodwaters in Cabrera de Mar, north of Barcelona, on Saturday.
The woman was swept away on Saturday evening while she was with her husband and two children near the town's municipal pavilion, close to a stream.
The incident came as torrential rain associated with Dana Adam, an isolated depression at upper atmospheric levels that can cause some of Spain's heaviest autumn rainfall, battered the area.
Spain's state meteorological agency, Aemet, issued red alerts for parts of Valencia and Alicante, warning that rainfall could exceed 300 litres per square metre in 24 hours in some places.
