Jordanian, Indonesian leaders urge dialogue to ease regional tensions
Jordan's King Abdullah II and visiting Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Wednesday stressed the need for dialogue to de-escalate regional tensions, calling for support for Syria and Lebanon's sovereignty and a renewed push for the two-state solution, according to a statement by the Royal Court.
During their talks, the king underscored the importance of diplomatic channels in addressing issues related to Iran and emphasized the need to bolster regional stability, the statement said.
On the Palestinian issue, the king reiterated Jordan's rejection of Israeli escalatory measures aimed at expanding settlements and controlling land in the West Bank, warning against continued violations at Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
He commended Indonesia's support for peace efforts based on the two-state solution and its commitment to protecting Palestinians in Gaza, expressing Jordan's readiness for coordination.
