Top DPRK leader gives special gifts to senior officials
Kim Jong Un, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), met Friday with and gifted a new-type sniper rifle to the country's major leading cadres and military commanding officers, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported Saturday.
Kim, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and president of the State Affairs of the DPRK, met with the senior officials at the headquarters building of the WPK Central Committee, said the report.
Calling the new-generation sniper rifle "a wonderful weapon" developed and produced by the DPRK's Academy of Defense Science, Kim said, "These presents represent my appraisal of your extraordinary devotion for the country and the people and an expression of my absolute trust in you."
Among the special gift's recipients were members of the WPK Central Military Commission, commanders of the large combined units of the Korean People's Army and commanding officers of guard units, as well as Jo Yong Won and Kim Jae Ryong, members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, and Kim Yo Jong, director of the General Affairs Department of the WPK Central Committee.
The top DPRK leader awarded the relevant certificates to the officials and tried the rifles with them at a shooting range.
