Newborn dies after being found abandoned in Causeway Bay mall

A newborn baby boy was found abandoned in a restroom at Lee Theatre Plaza in Causeway Bay this afternoon and later died despite emergency treatment.



Authorities said they received a report at 2.13pm that a cleaner at the mall, located at 99 Percival Street, had discovered the infant in the women’s restroom on the first floor.



Paramedics arrived at the scene and found the baby unconscious, rushing him to Ruttonjee Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.



Police have cordoned off the area and are investigating the incident.
