Turkiye exports warship to Romania in 1st-ever NATO, EU member sale
Turkiye marked its first-ever export of a warship to a member of both NATO and the EU on Saturday, delivering the vessel named CAm. Roman to Romania through a sales agreement.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Romanian President Nicusor Dan attended the handover ceremony at the Istanbul Shipyard Command.
Speaking at the event broadcast live, Erdogan said the vessel is equipped with domestically-developed combat management systems, search and fire-control radars, sonar systems and close-in defense weapons.
He described the delivery as a milestone in the strategic partnership and long-standing friendship between Turkiye and Romania, and as the allies' shared commitment to strengthening security in the Black Sea and the broader Euro-Atlantic region.
