Egyptian president, Spanish PM discuss drone attack on Egyptian port over phone

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez held a phone call on Thursday to discuss Wednesday's drone attack on Egypt's Damietta Port and other regional issues.

Sisi said competent authorities are conducting investigations to ascertain the details of the incident, urging unified efforts to halt the regional escalation, the Egyptian Presidency said in a statement.

Sanchez condemned the drone attack, and stressed the UN's important role in halting the regional escalation, it said.

He also urged reaching a just solution to the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution, it added.
