Iraqi, Turkish FMs discuss bilateral ties, regional tensions over phone
Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan discussed bilateral relations and rising regional tensions during a phone call on Saturday.
The ministers emphasized the need to "support political stability and enhance regional cooperation to serve the interests of the region's countries," according to a statement from the Iraqi Foreign Ministry.
The talks also addressed the ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran and their impact on regional security, the statement said, adding that Hussein also briefed Fidan on his upcoming official visit to Tehran.
According to the official Iraqi News Agency, Hussein will visit Iran on Sunday, during which he will meet with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, and other senior officials.
