Iranian parliament condemns European counterpart resolution

Iranian lawmakers on Sunday strongly condemned a recent "meddlesome" anti-Iran resolution adopted by the European Parliament.

In the resolution adopted on Thursday, the European Parliament accused the Iranian government of violating human rights during the recent unrest in the country, and called for the designation of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization.

The Iranian lawmakers described in a statement the resolution as a "clear instance of intervention" in Iran's internal affairs, adding that the resolution's adoption was aimed at covering up the European Parliament's failure to address the European Union's internal problems.

The statement noted that there were reliable evidence proving that the "terrorist" groups that incited the riots in Iran were in "direct and organized" contact with certain countries' intelligence services, which led and supported the killing of Iranians in the unrest.

The Iranian lawmakers emphasized that the European Parliament and "meddlesome" European governments bore direct legal and political responsibility for supporting and facilitating "terrorist" actions against Iran and must be held accountable.
