UN chief condemns terrorist attack in Nigeria

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Thursday strongly condemned Tuesday's terrorist attack in the Nigerian state of Kwara, which reportedly killed over 100 people.

The secretary-general reiterates the solidarity of the United Nations with Nigeria's government and people in their efforts to fight terrorism and violent extremism, said Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson for the UN secretary-general, in a statement.

Guterres stresses the importance of bringing the perpetrators to justice, said the statement.

It added that the UN chief conveys his condolences to the families of the victims and to Nigeria's people and government, and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured.
