3 dead, 35 injured in Serbia bus crash

Three people were killed and 35 others injured on Friday when a bus carrying factory workers overturned on a regional road near the northern Serbian city of Sremska Mitrovica, authorities said.



According to the Serbian Ministry of Interior, the bus transporting workers of a healthcare equipment manufacturer veered off the road and flipped onto its roof around 2:45 p.m. local time. The crash occurred between Sremska Mitrovica and the nearby village of Jarak, about 70 kilometers northwest of Belgrade.



Two people died at the scene, while a third succumbed to injuries in hospital. Emergency services dispatched six medical teams to the site, and 35 passengers were treated at Sremska Mitrovica General Hospital.



Vojislav Mirnic, a hospital official, told local media that most of the injured sustained serious wounds. One patient was transferred to the clinical center of Vojvodina in Novi Sad for further treatment.
