Armed man shot by police in Australia's Queensland
Police officers in the Australian state of Queensland on Wednesday shot a man with a firearm after he was involved in a traffic collision.
The Queensland Police Service (QPS) said in a statement that officers were called to reports of a collision on a highway near the suburb of Sippy Downs, about 85 km north of Brisbane, shortly before midday local time on Wednesday.
The car involved in the incident fled the scene and was tracked by police until the male driver got out of the vehicle around 10 km from the initial crash site and approached officers while armed with a gun, the QPS said.
He was subsequently shot by police officers, who provided first aid at the scene before the man was taken to a nearby hospital in a stable condition.
It comes after a 21-year-old man was fatally shot by police in Brisbane on Tuesday after he allegedly threatened officers while armed with a knife.
