Two men have died after a small boat capsized off Yamaguchi Prefecture in western Japan, local media reported Thursday.
The two are believed to have gone fishing on a boat that left from a shore in Nagato around 1 p.m. local time Wednesday, Kyodo News reported, citing the coast guard and local police.
The coast guard had conducted a search that night after being notified that the boat had not returned, the report said.
The boat was found capsized about 2.5 km from Kawashiri Cape in Nagato while a man was spotted nearby. Another man was found in the waters southwest of where the boat was located.
The men, both confirmed dead, are believed to be Masamichi Harada and Kitani Akinobu, both 76 and residents of Ube in the same prefecture, the report said.
