Israeli air defenses shot down at least five Iranian drones over southern Syria on Tuesday, according to a war monitor.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the Israeli military intercepted the drones in separate incidents over the southern provinces of Quneitra and Daraa during the day.
Video footage circulating online showed one of the drones ablaze and split in two in a field, alarming local residents who rushed to the scene in Daraa.
The observatory said that the "Syrian airspace enters the Iranian-Israeli war."
The aerial conflict between Israel and Iran has entered its fifth day, with at least 244 people killed in Iran and 24 in Israel. The escalation began after Israel launched surprise airstrikes across Iran on Friday.
