The Swedish government on Tuesday proposed a substantial national investment in cybersecurity as part of its budget bill for 2026.
According to the proposal, funding will amount to 300 million Swedish kronor (32 million U.S. dollars) in 2026, 350 million kronor in 2027 and 400 million kronor in 2028.
"The government is proposing a national initiative on cybersecurity," said Minister for Civil Defense Carl-Oskar Bohlin in a government press release.
The funds will be allocated to the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), municipalities and regions.
The proposal is based on an agreement between the government and the Sweden Democrats.
