North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region reported Saturday that one person had died after contracting the bubonic plague. The patient was from the Urad Front Banner in the city of Bayannur. Local authorities in the banner on Friday issued a third-level warning for plague prevention and control from now to the end of 2020. Seven close contacts of the dead patient have been put under isolated medical observation. All of them tested negative for plague and none of them showed abnormal symptoms such as fever. The place where the patient lived has been closed off. The banner will conduct an epidemiological investigation and step up its efforts on the monitoring and clean-up of epidemic areas.
