Two civilians were killed and one was injured on Wednesday evening in an Israeli airstrike on southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese military sources. The sources, who spoke anonymously, told Xinhua that an Israeli drone fired an air-to-ground missile at a motorcycle on the al-Bayada road in southwestern Lebanon. The attack killed the two riders, 17-year-old Ali Alian and his 12-year-old brother Ishaq Alian, both from al-Bayada near the port of Tyre. The sources also reported that a civilian from the southeastern Lebanese village of Khiam was injured from inhaling smoke from phosphorus shells that struck the village. Meanwhile, Hezbollah announced that its fighters targeted a gathering of Israeli soldiers near the al-Raheb military site and several targets in the occupied Shebaa Farms with rockets. Tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border escalated on Oct. 8, 2023, following a barrage of rockets launched by Hezbollah toward Israel in solidarity with Hamas' attack on Israel the day before. Israel then retaliated by firing heavy artillery at southeastern Lebanon.
