Drug gang busted in Yunnan

        Police in southwest China's Yunnan Province busted a drug gang and apprehended five suspects, the local public security department said.
        
        More than 31 kg of methamphetamine was confiscated, with two vehicles seized, according to police in Chengjiang County in the city of Yuxi.
        
        On Sept. 10, police stopped a car in Chengjiang County for a routine check. Police found that the driver and passenger looked suspicious and were making multiple phone calls, but no drugs were found in their vehicle. Half an hour later, police stopped another car driving on the same road, discovering the drugs.
        
        The investigation found that passengers in the two cars are accomplice and were communicating on the phone about transporting drugs.
        
        The suspects are all in police custody, and an investigation is under way.
        
        Yunnan is the focal point of the national anti-drug campaign as it borders the Golden Triangle, known for drug production and trafficking.
