Ahead of the release of her third studio album Mud, Remi Wolf shares the tender and haunting track “I Won’t Cry.” The yearning ballad builds to a powerful, heart- wrenching crescendo as Remi laments a former love, her booming, emotionally charged vocals carrying the weight of her longing to call out, “Why don’t you want me back.” The song comes alongside a music video co-directed by Remi Wolf and Milo Nichols featuring Remi rolling through a drive through car wash, the mist from the water sprouting rainbow hues.
Speaking about “I Won’t Cry,” Remi shares, “‘I Won’t Cry’ came out of one of the first writing trips we did in Big Bear for this album, and it was one of those songs that just immediately felt special to me. The three hours it took us to write and record it felt like we were all under some kind of magic spell. I would play the demo for friends and by the end they’d be crying. I knew it was stirring up something very real in people, and I knew it had to be on the record. It’s sad and yearning and dramatic and kind of pathetic in a way that I really love. It’s genuinely one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written, and I’m so happy you finally get to hear it!!!”
