Dylan releases her new single “to love and to lose” through Universal Music - her first new music of the year.
“to love and to lose”, which, just a week ago, nearly didn’t see the light of day, has already been met by huge support from industry and fans alike. With the likes of RAYE, Lauren Laverne and Chlöe Bailey rallying behind Dylan and her music, she is delighted to release the track today with Universal Music. Co-produced by Duck Blackwell (Halsey), Jamie Scott (Justin Bieber) and Mathi Wang (AURORA) - “to love and to lose” explores the complexities of loss and the darker shadows it can cast over us. Pairing huge pop hooks with Dylan’s instinctive guitar-driven sound, the track creates space for the feelings we often struggle to face and gives us permission to feel them loudly.
Dylan says – “This song, for me, is not about heartbreak or rage, but something quieter and more unsettling. It’s the inability to feel anything real having been through pain, grief and loss. Quite literally, it is the idea of trying to be with someone else whilst believing I am to blame for why I cannot feel the way I once did. I wrote it at 2am in a cab home from a party when I couldn’t find a song quick enough that matched the emotion I needed to heighten. It has soundtracked every cab home since.”
