Customs seized about 1,300 bottles of counterfeit liquor and arrested a man.

The Customs and Excise Department conducted a special operation in Kwai Chung to crack down on the sale of counterfeit liquor, and seized about 1,300 bottles of suspected counterfeit liquor with an estimated market value of about $2.9 million. During the operation, a 70-year-old man was arrested. The Customs and Excise Department raided a business premises and a storage warehouse in an industrial building in Kwai Chung last Tuesday and seized the suspected counterfeit liquor. The case is still under investigation and more arrests are expected. The Customs and Excise Department said it will continue to step up inspections and crack down on the sale of counterfeit festive food and goods as the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches.
