A man is suspected of breaking in and stealing more than $200,000 worth

A 51-year-old man was suspected of breaking into a residential unit in Tin Lok Lane, Wan Chai, and stealing more than $200,000 worth of property. He was arrested the next day and some of the lost property was recovered.
At about 3pm on Tuesday, the police received a report from a resident of Tin Lok Lane, Wan Chai, that his unit was suspected to have been burglarized. When the police arrived at the scene, the resident counted the stolen items and found that about HK$20,000 in cash, RMB 1,700, three watches worth a total of about HK$24,000, and a batch of jewelry worth about HK$156,000 were lost.
After checking CCTV and conducting investigation, the police arrested a 51-year-old man on suspicion of burglary at Tai Wo Estate in Tai Po yesterday afternoon and recovered some of the lost items from his residence. The arrested man was then taken back to the police station for detention and investigation. The case was handed over to the Wan Chai Police District Criminal Investigation Team for follow-up.
The police urged the public to be more vigilant and not to leave large amounts of valuables at home. They should also pay attention to theft prevention, lock doors and windows, activate security systems, and pay more attention to strangers in the building where they live to see if there is any suspicious behavior.
