3 killed in Israeli airstrikes on S. Lebanon

12/8/2024 6:10
Two Hezbollah members and an Amal Movement member were killed on Sunday in Israeli airstrikes on different areas in southern Lebanon, Lebanese military sources told Xinhua.
The military sources, who spoke anonymously, told Xinhua that Hezbollah members Ali Samir Hijazi and Mohammad Haidar were killed in an airstrike carried out by an Israeli drone on a motorcycle in the southeast village of Taybeh.
"A civil defense vehicle transferred the bodies of the two dead to the government hospital in the city of Bint Jbeil, south of Lebanon," the sources added.
Hassan Mustafa, a member of the Lebanese Amal Movement, died from injuries in an Israeli raid days ago, according to the sources.
Meanwhile, a shepherd was wounded by Israeli gunfire in the southeastern village of Wazzani and was taken to Marjeyoun Governmental Hospital for treatment.
The Israeli military carried out six airstrikes on five villages and towns and attacked eight towns and villages with about 25 shells in southern Lebanon.
Hezbollah said that its fighters attacked several Israeli sites.
Tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border escalated on Oct. 8, 2023, following a barrage of rockets launched by the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah toward Israel in solidarity with Hamas' attack on Israel the day before. Israel then retaliated by firing heavy artillery toward southeastern Lebanon.
