Mass protest in The Hague demands action against Israel

16/6/2025 6:17
More than 100,000 protesters gathered in the center of The Hague on Sunday for a new "Red Line" demonstration opposing the Dutch government's stance on Israel.

After assembling at Malieveld Park, the protesters, dressed in red to symbolize a "red line", marched to the Peace Palace. The demonstration was organized by humanitarian and human rights groups.

The participants called for a fundamental shift in the caretaker Dutch government's policy, urging the imposition of strong sanctions against Israel.

"Gaza cannot wait, and the Netherlands has a serious obligation to do everything it can to stop the genocide," the organizing groups said in a press release. "The Netherlands continues to support Israel unconditionally, despite violations of international law and more than 54,000 deaths in Gaza."

Organizers estimated the turnout at around 150,000, while Dutch media outlets on the ground reported over 100,000 demonstrators.

This was the second major protest in The Hague in less than a month. On May 18, a similar demonstration attracted approximately 100,000 participants.
