The Bangladeshi interim government declared on Tuesday a one-day state mourning on the occasion of "July Martyrs' Day" on Wednesday.
The Bangladeshi government had earlier officially recognized July 16 as the "July Martyrs' Day" as at least six people were killed on this day last year in a protest before the fall of the Bangladesh Awami League party government and the ouster of then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
As part of the observance of the mourning day, all government, semi-government, autonomous, and educational institutions, as well as all government and private buildings across the country and Bangladeshi missions abroad, will fly the national flag at half-mast.
