At least 10 persons, including two women, died and 37 others were injured when a bus they were travelling in collided with a truck parked on the roadside in India's eastern state West Bengal early on Friday, a local cop said.
Five among the injured were in critical condition. All the victims hailed from the neighboring state of Bihar, and were on a pilgrimage. The injured were admitted to a local hospital.
"We are trying to reach out to the families of the victims. They belonged to Motihari district of Bihar state. Six among the dead have been identified so far.
The bus carrying the pilgrims rammed into a stationary truck. Prima facie, it appears that the bus driver fell asleep at the wheel, leading to the gruesome accident," said the cop.
