Air Canada flight attendants vote against airline's wage offer

7/9/2025 14:00
Air Canada flight attendants on Saturday overwhelmingly voted against the airline's wage offer, their union said.

According to the Canadian Union of Public Employees, 99.1 percent of members rejected a tentative agreement which offers a 12 percent salary increase for most junior flight attendants and an 8 percent bump for more senior members.

Air Canada said in a separate statement that both sides had agreed to refer the wage issue to mediation if the tentative deal was rejected, and to arbitration if mediation failed.

The parties also agreed that no labor disruption could be initiated, and therefore there will be no strike or lockout, and flights will continue to operate.

The three-day flight attendants' strike ended on Aug. 19. The airline estimated in August that the strike led to the cancellation of flights for 500,000 customers.
