At least 6 killed in Rio de Janeiro party hall shooting

At least six people were killed and another was wounded Friday in a shooting between alleged rival criminal gangs at a party hall in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, local authorities said.

The shooting took place in the northern Honorio Gurgel neighborhood, where alleged members of the criminal gang Comando Vermelho were holding a party, the police said.

According to initial investigations, the rival gang Terceiro Comando Puro invaded the venue, triggering an intense exchange of gunfire.

Security forces launched a large-scale raid against Comando Vermelho in Rio de Janeiro on Oct. 28, leaving at least 121 people dead.
