EU reaffirms support for Denmark, Greenland amid U.S. remarks

European Commission spokesperson Anita Hipper on Monday reaffirmed that the European Union (EU) will continue to "uphold the principles of national sovereignty" when asked about the U.S. president's recent remarks on Greenland.

"We have made our position very clear, and I will reiterate once more that the EU will continue to uphold the principles of national sovereignty, territorial integrity, the inviolability of borders and the UN Charter," said Hipper at the Commission's daily briefing.

"These are universal principles, and we will not stop defending them," she added.
