Thousands across Germany join Easter peace marches to protest wars

Thousands of people took to the streets across Germany this weekend for the traditional Easter peace marches, calling for an end to global conflicts.

There were more than 70 demonstrations across the country this weekend voicing against war.

The protests are primarily focused on the conflicts in Ukraine and in the Middle East.

The marches saw approximately 3,000 people gather in Stuttgart and 2,000 in Munich.

Speakers at the events called on the German government to contribute to ending the conflicts through diplomacy.

German media outlets recently reported that a new legislation, which went into effect this year, has introduced a regulation for males aged 17 to 45 to seek approval before leaving the country for trips abroad exceeding three months.

Since the previously unnoticed traveling rule came under the spotlight this week, the organizers of the marches expected a higher turnout of young people this year.

In Berlin, several hundred people demonstrated on Sunday against the actions of the United States and Israel in the Middle East.
