3 killed, 5 wounded in school shooting in central Philippines
Three people were killed and five others were wounded in a school shooting in Tacloban City in the central Philippines on Monday morning with preliminary investigation showing that both gunmen are minors, according to the police.
The two suspects in the shooting at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City have been arrested, said the police. According to local media reports, the 15-year-old suspect, a Grade 9 student of the school, was arrested on the campus. The other suspect, also a minor, was arrested while attempting to flee.
Police said the shooting occurred at around 9 a.m. local time while classes were ongoing at the school. Video footage posted on social media showed several gunshots ringing out inside a classroom as students and teachers ducked for safety and sought cover.
Emergency responders rushed the injured victims to nearby hospitals.
Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive for the attack. Police said an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
