A taxi in Tsuen Wan allegedly lost control and struck a male tourist on the sidewalk, who later died in hospital. The taxi driver has been arrested for dangerous driving.

The incident occurred around 2 p.m. yesterday afternoon. A taxi, entering the underground pick-up and drop-off area of Nina Tower, allegedly lost control, ran onto the sidewalk at high speed, struck a 35-year-old Filipino male tourist, and then crashed into the wall of the Nina Tower. The victim sustained multiple injuries, including a serious leg injury. He was taken unconscious to Princess Margaret Hospital and later certified dead. The front of the taxi was severely damaged, and a hotel pillar was struck, exposing its support.

The 80-year-old male taxi driver reported injuries to his head, hands, and chest, and said he was dizzy and out of control at the time of the accident. He was conscious and taken to Yan Chai Hospital for treatment. He was subsequently arrested by police on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death and is currently being detained for investigation.
