Nearly 200,000 people have been affected by flooding in Maguindanao del Sur province in the southern Philippines, following days of heavy rains brought by the intertropical convergency zone, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Tuesday.

The agency said incessant rains flooded 98 areas in the 11 towns in the province on Mindanao island, which have been experiencing cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms since May 14.

"This resulted in flash floods in several municipalities in Maguindanao del Sur," the agency said, adding that the flooding has affected 192,005 individuals in the province, with 890 people now staying at evacuation centers.

The agency said three houses have been "totally" damaged, and that two roads and one bridge have been declared "not passable" for vehicles due to the flooding.
