The Observatory issued a tsunami advisory at 8:00 PM last night, stating that a powerful 8.8 magnitude earthquake occurred off the east coast of Kamchatka at 7:24 AM yesterday, generating a tsunami.
The first two tsunami waves that reached Hong Kong were very small and unobservable. Subsequently, at approximately 6:40 PM last night, the Observatory observed a water level anomaly of approximately 7 cm at the Shek Pik tidal station, presumably caused by a subsequent tsunami wave. This was the final tsunami advisory for this tsunami.
