Cambodia arrests drug suspects, with 1.91 tons of narcotics in first 7 months

Cambodia had detained 14,977 drug-related suspects in the first seven months of 2025, up 2.7 percent year-on-year, said an Anti-Drug Department (ADP)'s report on Sunday.



Among them are 537 foreigners, including 79 women, the report said.



"A total of 1.91 tons of illicit drugs as well as 505 kg of dry cannabis and 12,212 fresh cannabis plants have been confiscated from those suspects' possession during the January-July period this year," the report said.



Also, the authorities had seized 19 tons of chemical precursors, 35 pistols, 18 rifles, 112 cars, 1,488 motorcycles, 5,422 telephones and 526 scales, as well as some cash during the raids, the report added.



Most of the confiscated narcotics were ketamine, ecstasy, heroin, crystal methamphetamine, methamphetamine pills, cocaine, and cathinone.



The Southeast Asian nation has no death sentence for illicit drug traffickers. Under its law, those found guilty of trafficking more than 80 grams of illicit drugs could be imprisoned for life.
