U.S. Texas identifies 119 victims of July 4 floods

9/8/2025 12:17
Officials of the U.S. state of Texas on Friday released the names of 117 people who died and two who remain missing following the devastating flash floods in central Texas on July 4.

The youngest victims were one year old, and the oldest was 91, according to local media reports.

"We are reminded once more of the lives forever changed by this tragedy. These names are not new to our community; they are our family, friends and neighbors, and they are forever engraved in our hearts," Kerrville officials from the hardest-hit Kerr County said in a statement.

Two people from Texas are still missing. Jeffrey Ramsey, 63, of Lewisville and Cecilia Steward, 8, of Austin, are listed as missing as of Friday.

In the early hours of July 4, torrential rains triggered flash floods along the Guadalupe River in central Texas, sweeping away local residents, visitors and summer campers.

The flash floods across at least 20 counties in central Texas caused an estimated 18 to 22 billion U.S. dollars in damage and economic loss, U.S. weather forecasting service AccuWeather said in a preliminary estimate last month.
